From Cocoa Farm to Cup: The Story Behind Every Sip

Every KITKATĀ® Chocolate Drink carries with it a commitment that runs deeper than taste. The cocoa used in KITKATĀ® is sourced through the NestlĆ© Cocoa Plan, NestlĆ©’s global initiative to improve the lives of cocoa farmers and ensure responsibly sourced cocoa across its supply chain.

Launched in 2009, the NestlĆ© Cocoa Plan has spent more than 15 years working directly with farming communities around the world. In 2024, 88.9%¹ of NestlĆ©’s total cocoa was sourced through the programme, engaging over 180,000 cocoa farming families² across 11 countries and covering nearly 298,000 tonnes of cocoa². KITKATĀ® holds a proud distinction within this programme – it was the first NestlĆ© brand to source all its cocoa through the NestlĆ© Cocoa Plan, following a Rainforest Alliance certified mass balance approach.

Through the Income Accelerator Program, NestlĆ© currently supports 30,000 cocoa farming families in CĆ“te d’Ivoire and Ghana³, with a goal of reaching an estimated 160,000 families by 2030³. Even in one of the most challenging cocoa seasons in recent years, families in the programme earned 15% more than their peers⁓, a testament to the real, measurable difference the programme is making on the ground.
